Where to start?

I've gotten so many questions since friends have found out I am on an essential oils journey. I haven't been very public about it, but I am ready to be. I am working to bring my family and my home to a healthier, happier, more product-conscious state of mind. And I am really proud of that.

If you are just now hearing about essential oils and wondering where to start, I was in your position not very long ago. A quick google search will bring up hundreds of reputable pages to aid your research... but it can be very, very overwhelming. Where to begin? What oils to try?

I'll be honest, I did quite a bit of research to decide what brand of essential oil to try. And, everything pointed me to Young Living. They offer pure oils and an extensive amount of reference material that I can look up when I am curious about an oil... right up my alley. Digging deeper, I found that they were offering a starter kit that included 11 of the most popular oils, a home diffuser and tons of samples for a very low price. It was a great opportunity for me to get a wide variety of oils and begin my journey. So I took it!

Exploring with essential oils has been super fun, and easier that I thought. I am looking forward to enhancing my knowledge of oils and continuing to transition my family from commercial products to natural essential oils. I'll share my journey with you, and am happy to answer any questions you may have about essential oils. Here are a few of our go-to oils... and yep, they are all in the starter kit!

Lemon Oil:
1. Mix 3-5 drops in a spray bottle of water as a counter top cleaner.
2. A few drops in an ice cold glass of water as an instant refresher.
3. Diffused to invigorate your mind, body, and promote energy.

Frankincense:
1. I had a c-section when I delivered my twins 1 year ago. I've been using frankincense on my scar and have seen a huge reduction in its visibility. Previously I had tried mederma and retinol with minimal results.
2. I also struggled with acne when pregnant. I dab a tiny amount on blemish scars on my face and am watching the spots lighten daily.

Peace and Calming:
1. This has been the most common oil I've diffused in our house. When we begin our nighttime routine with the babies, I turn on the diffuser to stimulate calming scents in our home. I've been blessed with two babies who sleep consistently 7pm-7am, and I am a huge believer in routine, calming rituals, and that good sleep habits are an essential component to happy, healthy babies.
